About Our Portrait Photography

There are two types of portrait sessions that we create. The ‘studio’ shot is often on what is refered to as seamless backgrounds; solid colours... Popular if you want nothing to detract from the ‘sitter’ (you). They can be as diverse as ‘environmental’ photos and the light can be crafted to just about any look you want. Bright and rich colours or dark and moody dramatic shots.

Portrait photography helps identify who we are, how we see ourselves or how we are seen. It highlights the strengths and weaknesses. They can be honest images or equally created for affect. Black and White images can help create that mood....

Maybe you saw a picture of a famous Hollywood star from the 1930’s that captured your imagination and you want to ‘reproduce’ that look. Maybe it’s something a little more modern or even a little more risqué from the boudoir. Either way, a portrait can be your side of the story told in your own words in brilliant colour

Next is the ‘environmental’ portrait that places the sitter in their surroundings. Examples can be seen in the gallery. These can be so diverse that you may find that there are hundreds of variations in a single session, taken in any location in the UK or the rest of the world and in any environment. Naturally you’ll be charged for the travel and time to get to far flung exotic places outside Plymouth.
